RACCOMBAT Launch

Preventing and Combatting Racism and Xenophobia through Social Orientation of Non-Nationals (RACCOMBAT) is a EU-funded initiative, implemented by a consortium of academics and researchers from 6 EU Member States – Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Austria and Romania. It will run in the period September 2017 – June 2019 and will introduce an innovative approach to migrants’ and other non-nationals’ language tuition and social orientation to incorporate rule of law education. It will also attempt to raise the importance of integration in relevant policy portfolios and acquaint the general public with best practices in social orientation.

The project team will map the existing social orientation frameworks in Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal and Romania and analyse those for the six participating countries. It will collect best practices in the area and produce guidelines on including tolerance and non-discrimination topics throughout the integration process. A number of stakeholder workshops and trainings will validate project conclusions and outputs against the experience of asylum and integration professionals throughout the EU.
